We are located on level 1 of the Bendigo Hospital. Please arrive 10 minutes earlier than your scheduled appointment. At times there may be a wait. Please advise our friendly reception staff if you have been waiting for more than 30 minutes.

How to refer your patient for a Diagnostic Test

BPAC is our preferred referral path. For more information visit Murray HealthPathways

Our Diagnostic Tests include:

  • Exercise Stress Tests
  • Stress Echocardiogram
  • Dobutamine Stress Echocardiogram
  • Transthoracic Echocardiogram
  • Electrocardiogram
  • Holter Monitoring (or Event monitoring)
  • Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring
  • Electroencephalogram (EEG)
  • Sleep Deprived Electroencephalogram

Patient requiring surgical intervention (PPM/ICD/Coronary Angiogram/DCR) will require a Clinic referral

Please ensure that the patient has not had a test within a specific timeframe or the patient may incur an out of pocket cost.  Follow form guidelines.

How to refer your patient for a Cardiology Clinic with a Cardiologist

The Cardiology Clinic at Bendigo Health is registered as an MBS clinic.

BPAC is our preferred referral path. For more information visit Murray HealthPathways . For clinics who do not have BPAC access, please fax referral letter to (03) 5454 8020.

 

Priorities:

  • Referrals will be triaged according to clinical need by the team for your patient’s condition. The more information you include with your referral, the better able we are to make an accurate assessment of your patient’s needs.

Our service offers the following Clinics:

  • Arrhythmia
  • Pacemaker
  • Heart Failure
  • Hypertension
  • Cardiology Management review.
  • Rapid Access Clinics: General Cardiology. The Rapid Access Clinics are priority based referrals, triaging patients with emergent issues. 
  • Rapid Accesss Atrial Fibrillation Clinic (as part of the Safer Care Victoria Project). Seeing patients within 14 days of referral for consideration of anticoagulation and rate/rhythm management plan.
    Accepting referrals for new diagnosis of Atrial Fibrillation and Atrial Flutter - patients with stable or chronic arrythmia are not for referral.

  • Inpatient Heart Failure Nurse. Provides patients, families and carers with 1:1 education, ensures patients receive appropriate community referrals on discharge and follow up calls on discharge.

Referral management: Referrals will be triaged by the treating Cardiologist
GP and patient will be advised if the referral has been Categorised as CAT 2 or 3 with the patient being put on the Bendigo Health Cardiology wait list for an appointment.
