Electroencephalogram (EEG)
An EEG records the electric patterns of the brain (brainwaves). These tests are useful to help diagnose and manage a number of different conditions including seizures. Having an EEG is pain free and takes approximately one hour. Hair will need to be clean, dry and free from any hair product. No caffeine is to be consumed within 8 hours of the procedure such as tea, coffee, cola, or energy drinks. No fasting is required and normal medications should be taken. For children, a favourite toy, blanket, or other comfort item should be included. Electronic devices such as iPads are not permitted as they are too interactive.

This test is designed to help with diagnosis of seizures, epilepsy, head injuries, dizziness, headaches, brain tumours and sleeping problems. Your Doctor will ask you to stay awake the night before your test. You will be required to be driven to your appointment as you should not operate a vehicle.
