Bendigo Health is a Level 2 teaching hospital and is part of the Central North West Basic Physician Training Consortium. We offer accredited rotations designed to prepare trainees for the FRACP written and clinical exams. Through our partnership with Austin Health, we provide a regional BPT pathway, allowing Junior Medical Staff to complete 2 years of the 3-year program at Bendigo Health. There is also the opportunity to transition into Advanced Training in various specialties.
Our training program is focused on supporting BPT trainees’ progression, with integrated education and exam preparation in collaboration with Austin Health. All rotations are RACP-accredited, providing a structured and comprehensive experience that promotes professional development and exam readiness in a supportive environment.
To be eligible for the BPT – Bendigo Regional Pathway, you will need to have:
Trainees will be given exposure to two specialty rotations at Austin Health in BPT1, and General/Acute Medicine rotations in BPT3.
A variety of specialty rotations are available at Austin Health including Cardiology, Endocrinology/Rheumatology, Gastroenterology, Haematology, ICU, Infectious Diseases, Neurology, Oncology, Palliative Care, Nephrology, Respiratory Medicine and Geriatric Medicine.
Candidates will also be given the opportunity to experience additional specialty rotations at Bendigo Health in Cardiology, Nephrology, Geriatric Medicine, ID/HITH, Respiratory and/or Oncology across their training.

Pre-Match Offers: BPT1 pre-match offers will be undertaken internally prior to the PMCV Match process.
PMCV Match: Remaining positions will be filled through the PMCV match.
Successful applicants will be offered a three-year training position.
