Commonwealth Home Support Program

Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) provides assistance for frail older people aged 65 years and over (50 years and over for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people) to remain living at home.

CHSP respite supports the carer and frail older person by arranging respite services that allow carers to take a break from their usual caring duties.

Respite options can include:

  • Centre-based respite available during the day at a venue away from home
  • Flexible respite usually involves a paid care worker providing assistance in the home.

Bendigo Health Carer Support Services deliver the CHSP Respite program throughout the Loddon Mallee region only.
