Registrars pass their primary exam after 12 months of study
An exam dubbed the 1000 hour exam was passed by four registrars from Bendigo Health recently.

An exam dubbed the 1000 hour exam was passed by four registrars from Bendigo Health recently.

The primary exam in Emergency Medicine was completed by doctors Charlotte Blake, Vanessa Roberts, Natasha Tile and Chris Pham.

The Registrars have a strong passion for their careers in the Emergency Department.

“The mix of seeing all the different sick patients from medical, to surgical, to kids, to women and mix of procedures makes it a highlight,” Natasha Tile, Emergency Medicine Registrar said.

Emergency Medicine Registrar, Charlotte Blake said the department is very hands on with lots of creativity and teamwork required.

The four registrars are from all over Australia, from Canberra to Traralgon and hope to continue their careers at Bendigo Health.

“Living regionally means we aren’t surrounded by a concrete jungle and we are able to jump in the car for five minutes and head to a National Park to spend our time off,” Vanessa Roberts said.

Directors of Emergency Medicine Training, Kiran Veera and Liam Hannon said the registrars have worked hard to get this result and it’s something to be proud of.

The registrars said they studied for 12 months before sitting the two, three hour written parts and one hour verbal exam.

In four years’ time the registrars will complete their next and final exam – the fellowship exam.
