Research Report

At Bendigo Health, we are dedicated to making sure research leads to real improvements in healthcare. We believe in using research findings to improve how we treat patients and make our healthcare practices better. Our aim is to constantly improve the care we provide, using research to guide us. We measure how our changes in treatment affect patients, staff, the community, and our supporters. By working together, we can make healthcare better in Bendigo and beyond.

This report provides an overview of the broad range of research undertaken at Bendigo Health to improve the health and wellbeing of our community. Over the two year time period covered in this report, 2022-2024, our research footprint has grown with 157 active research studies, 101 publications in scientific journals and 24 departments across Bendigo Health involved in research at 30 June 2024.

Research Plan

The aim of the Bendigo Health Research Plan 2022-2025 is to establish a best practice model for health and medical research in rural and regional populations.

The plan reflects government strategic directions, builds on our current strengths and responds to emerging opportunities. It also outlines an operational model to help address our weaknesses and threats.

Development of the plan included careful consideration of the external research environment to ensure it reflects and progresses both federal and state strategic research directions.
