Work Experience

Bendigo Health are pleased to offer a range of Work Experience (WE) opportunities to Year 10 students in the Loddon Mallee Region in 2024. Bendigo Health has partnered with Goldfields Local Learning and Employment Network (Goldfields LLEN), a Department of Education initiative who coordinate all placement requests for secondary school students. Please note: Bendigo Health are unable to answer queries relating to Work Experience placements, please see the More Information and Important Links tab below. Opportunities offered

Administration and Support Services

Students who obtain a five day administration placement will rotate through each of the following non-clinical departments: Finance, Corporate and Community Affairs, Payroll Services, People and Culture and Supply.

Community Services and Allied Health

Students who obtain a three day Community Services and Allied Health placement will experience Bendigo Health’s Transition Care Program, Outpatient Rehabilitation Services and The Hospital Admissions and Risk Program. This placement allows students to observe Allied Health professionals in the community and at our offsite facilities such as Golden Oaks Nursing Home.

Medical Imaging

Students who obtain a three day Medial Imaging placement will observe Medical Imaging Technologists, Nursing Staff, Radiologists, Nuclear Medicine Technologists and Sonographers. Students will rotate through different modalities within the department including CT Scanning, MRI, Ultrasound and general X-Ray.

Nursing

Students who obtain a five day Nursing placement will observe Nursing staff within each of the clinical units/departments within the service including: Children’s Ward, Ward 4B Orthopaedics, Golden Oaks Nursing Home, Ward 6C Rehabilitation and Ward 4A Medical.

Paediatric Nursing

Students who obtain a five day placement will observe clinical staff within each of the following clinical units within the service including: Women’s Ward and Birthing Suite and The Children’s Ward.

Allied Health (Physiotherapy)

Students who obtain a one day placement with Physiotherapy will observe the Allied Health professional with outpatient physiotherapy treatment and assessments, participate in group exercise programs including hydrotherapy and assist with setting up activities for patients. 

Information Technology

Students who obtain a three day placement will observe Information Communication Technology staff within the following teams: Architecture and Applications, Clinical information Systems, Information Technology Services

Dietetics and Nutrition

Students who obtain a three day placement will observe clinical staff within the following clinical teams: Inpatients, Community Health and Community Allied Health.  Students will need a completed travel form to participate in this placement.

All placements at Bendigo Health must be coordinated between school Careers Coordinators and the Goldfields LLEN.

Once a placement has been confirmed by the Goldfields LLEN and the school all of the relevant documentation e.g., Vaccination Certificates, signed Media, Confidentiality and Consent forms, and signed Placement Forms must be completed and submitted to the Goldfields LLEN two weeks before the placement start date.
