How to access clinic

You need a Medicare compliant referral letter from your GP or medical practitioner to access this service as it is a bulk billed Medicare clinic.

Your doctor will need to either send an electronic or fax referral to us. We will be in contact with you in clinically recommended times, depending on waiting list length. If there is no waiting list, you will receive an appointment booking letter or we will contact you to arrange a suitable time.

What to bring

• Download your insulin pump at home before attending your appointment. If you cannot do this contact the Diabetes Educators in advance on 5454 9228
• Your appointment letter
• Your Medicare card
• A list of medications that you are currently taking, including herbal supplements and vitamins
• Any relevant test results or x-rays from services outside Bendigo Health
• Any relevant cards (Health Care Card, Aged Pension, DVA).
• Your blood glucose meter
• Your blood glucose diary/record book
• Your favorite hypo food
• Something to do, like a book, magazine or an iPad/tablet with headphones.

Your appointment

Our Clinics are located on Level 1 in the Bendigo Hospital. We have an automated check-in system. You can either scan your appointment letter or Medicare card at the check-in kiosk to register your arrival. You will be directed to provide a contact mobile phone number. This will enable us to inform you via text message when your appointment is drawing near.

Patients are seen strictly in order of appointment time. We do our best to run to time, however delays do occur and we therefore recommend that you allow at least two hours for your appointment.
