Emergency Management

The Loddon Mallee Public Health Unit's (LMPHU) role is to be aware of local emergency health risks and where appropriate, provide a place-based support to the Department of Health-led emergency management responses.

In 2022, floods affected large areas of the Loddon Mallee region with a significant proportion of our community impacted. The LMPHU were involved in various flood response activities including:

  • Coordinated outreach vaccination visits to affected communities to deliver JEV, COVID-19 and influenza vaccination.
  • Assisted with flood readiness for residential aged care facilities, emergency relief centres, temporary accommodation sites and incident control centres.
  • Communications and engagement; supported production and distribution of print media promoting public health messages and participated in community information sessions
  • Worked closely with the state government led Incident Management Team
