Surveillance Set Up

  • Authority to set up surveillance site given by Director, LMPHU (outbreak/waste water detection)
  • LMPHU Public Health Officer to coordinate the setting up the site

Setting up site

  • Contact LGA stakeholders to support the selection and set up of the site.
  • Potential site assessed physically by Public Health Officer
  • Check if there is a current contract with the health service and Dept. of Health to be a surveillance site
  • Site has a separate entry and exit (infection control)
  • Area for priority queuing if required
  • Facilities for staff e.g. rest area, toilets
  • Contact police for traffic control if needed
  • Engage security guards if risk to staff
  • Organise transport of samples to pathology – complying with storage requirements
  • Workforce needed
  • Equipment
    • Testing equipment (complying with storage requirements)
    • PPE
    • Waste disposal
    • Water and meals for staff (if not local)
    • Access to briefing meetings for updated guidelines
  • Community engagement
