The Loddon Mallee Public Health Unit (LMPHU) Prevention and Population Health team recently released its Climate Change and Health Framework.
The framework, designed to safeguard the health and wellbeing of the community, will assist health and community organisations in the Loddon Mallee region identify and reduce the impact of climate change, particularly for people experiencing systemic disadvantage.
The framework was approved by Bendigo Health’s Board of Directors and Board Chair Dr Ewa Piejko said it integrates climate change adaptation and mitigation strategies into Bendigo Health’s operations so we can effectively reduce our carbon footprint, enhance resilience and promote health equity.
“The framework is a long-term commitment requiring dedication, continuous improvement, and a willingness to adapt to emerging challenges,” she said.
“It forms a clear path for action and I encourage health and community organisations in the Loddon Mallee region to support its implementation.”
Last month also saw the LMPHU publish the LMPHU Playbook, a resource intended to support future responses to public health incidents and emergencies.
The Climate Change and Health Framework and LMPHU Playbook are available on the Bendigo Health LMPHU website: https://bendigohealth.org.au/LMPHU/
